As gifted education educators are working diligently toward implementation of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), the National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC) leadership felt a sense of urgency to respond to the CCSS vis-a-vis gifted learners.

NAGC sent us the following information regarding the 2010-2011 media campaign to raise awareness of the needs of gifted children and GAGC will follow-up; however, we wanted to share this information with anyone interested in this special population.
Who Are the Gifted in Georgia?
Gifted Student - a student who demonstrates a high degree of intellectual and/or creative ability(ies), exhibits an exceptionally high degree of motivation, and/or excels in specific academic fields, and who needs special instruction and/or special ancillary services to achieve at levels commensurate with his or her abilities. (SBOE Rule 160-4-2-.38, p. 1)
The mission of the Georgia Association for Gifted Children is to advocate for gifted children and youth by working with educators, parents, policy-makers, and the community to meet the needs of the gifted.
